Monthly Writing Practice Highlight

Each month we would like to highlight a teacher’s favorite strategy or practice they use to teach some aspect of writing. We want to showcase teachers’ expertise around the state. This is open to any teacher in West Virginia who teaches writing (K-college).Please sign up and encourage your colleagues to sign up. Some teachers are hesitant to step into the spotlight, so your words of encouragement may make a big difference. Let’s honor effective and innovative teaching! Here’s what you will sign up for:

NWP.WVU.EDU highlight – write a 300 word (max) description of your strategy and how you implement it. Feel free to include links to additional resources. If you have photos from the classroom without students’ faces and photos of yourself, please include them.

Facebook highlight – Write a brief introduction to yourself and your practice. Use this writing as a teaser to get them to visit your longer description on our website.

OPTIONAL:

Hosting a Facebook or Twitter Q/A with teachers one your teaching practice for one evening during your month. For example, on a specified Sunday evening from 7-8PM, we would invite teachers around the state to join you in a discussion forum on our NWP@WVU Facebook to talk with you about how you use your writing strategy.

4. Send descriptions to Audra Slocum at audra.slocum@mail.wvu.edu by the first of your specified month. Once you sign up here, you will receive a reminder from Sign Up Genius.
